ShareScammers are unfortunately more prevalent than ever right now. Here are some quick tips on how to identify scams and protect yourself from becoming a victim.
- Don’t give your personal or financial information in response to a request that you didn’t expect.
- Resist the pressure to act immediately.
- Never pay someone who insists you pay with a gift card or by using a money transfer service.
- Stop and talk to someone you trust, or call 911.
Scammers can be extremely sneaky, and have ways of looking legitimate that can sometimes be hard to detect at first. However, we’ve got you covered! Here are three easy ways to identify a scam:
- Scammers say there’s a “problem” or a “prize” in return for your information or financial assistance.
- Scammers pressure you immediately.
- Scammers tell you to pay in a specific way.
