Member One FCU, a full-service credit union headquartered in Roanoke, VA, today announced the appointment of Patience O’Brien to the newly created position of VP Corporate Projects.

O’Brien will be responsible for managing infrastructural and procedural projects throughout the credit union. The objective of those projects will be to enhance the employee and member experience.

O’Brien brings to Member One a wealth of process-improvement and project-management expertise gained from her previous positions in the public and nonprofit sectors.

“Member One is clearly a progressive organization,” said O’Brien. “I’m looking forward to the challenge of furthering the credit union’s operating procedures for the ultimate benefit of our members.”

A Licensed Professional Counselor, O’Brien comes to Member One from the Roanoke County Department of Social Services, where she held the position of assistant director. Previously, she had worked for Roanoke County/City of Salem and Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare.

O’Brien has been extremely active in the community. Among her many professional affiliations, she is a past chair and advisor of Leadership Roanoke Valley, served on the Board of Directors of Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce, and was a board member of the Community Policy and Management teams of Roanoke County and the City of Salem.

The appointment of O’Brien will bring significant value to Member One, according to Jean Hopstetter, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

“With a highly successful track record in strategic planning and operations management, Patience is an important addition to the Member One team,” said Hopstetter. “We are delighted to have such a strong leader spearheading our process improvements.”

O’Brien received her B.S. degree in Human Services Counseling from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, and her M.A. degree in Clinical Psychology from Saint Michael’s College in Winooksi, VT.
